Description Clear Rate's Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) service is delivered through a primary rate interface (PRI) from a digital central office. Clear Rate's ISDN PRI service provides integrated voice trunking from a customer's digital private branch exchange (PBX) to Clear Rate's switch. This service can be thought of as an "enhanced T-1." The trunking technology delivers 24 clear channels of 64 Kbps each, along with standardized out-of-band signaling. A single PRI link carries 23 B-channels (bearer channels) for voice and data, as well as a D-channel (delta channel) for call-control signaling.

Benefits and Applications Clear Rate's ISDN PRI service offers the following advantages:
-
An intelligent, high-bandwidth network connection with Clear Rate's ISDN PRI service and automatic call distributors (ACD) to your PBX.
-
Voice and data applications delivered by B-channels, which support voice and/or data services such as direct inward dialing (DID), direct outward dialing (DOD), long distance, 800 service, and circuit-switched data. Services are via an end-to-end digital connection.
-
Video teleconferencing is provided with greater picture clarity and higher image quality through ISDN PRI service, which can deliver anywhere from 384 Kbps up to a full T-1.
-
Trunk allocation allows trunks to be assigned a dedicated function to serve specific call types (for example, DOD, DID, long distance, and 800 service) on a call-by-call basis—an option unavailable to non-ISDN subscribers.
Features Clear Rate's ISDN PRI service offers businesses the following features:
Standard Features
-
Dynamically allocated Hunt-Groups - also known as rollover.
-
64 Kbps Clear Channel Transport by using a standard B8ZS (bipolar 8 zero substitution) protocol for transport at the 64 Kbps rate.
-
Caller ID, which delivers the calling party's telephone number, if available, to the ISDN PRI customer. The number will be delivered if the call originates either in the same Clear Rate's 5 ESS switch or is connected to the Clear Rate 5 ESS switch by Signaling System 7 (SS7).
-
Direct Inward Dial Service - ISDN PRI can support 50 individual users providing each end-user with their own telephone number. No need to dial and extension.
-
Circuit Switched Voice provides digitized speech or voice-band data access with existing services such as DID, DOD, and two-way trunks.
-
Circuit Switched Data supports data transmission speeds of up to 64 Kbps.
-
Integrated Services Access (ISA) dynamically reconfigures the ISDN PRI B-channels to accommodate a PBX customer's changes in traffic. This feature allows the number of channels devoted to services such as DID, DOD, and two-way trunks to vary as demand dictates
Optional Features
-
Call Re-Direct Automatic is a disaster-recovery solution. When a customer's trunk group is busy or out of service, Clear Rate will use the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to re-direct automatically all of a customer's incoming calls to another directory number.
-
Call Re-Direct DID is a feature for customers with DID service. It is a disaster-recovery solution to be used when calls cannot be delivered to a customer's location due to the failure of network facilities or the customer's PBX. When there is a failure, Clear Rate will use the PSTN to re-direct a customer's most critical DID telephone numbers (up to a maximum of 10 numbers) to an alternate directory number.
-
Caller ID With Name Delivery delivers the calling party's name and telephone number to the ISDN PRI service customer if the number is available. The number will be delivered if the call originates either in the same Clear Rate 5 ESS switch or is connected to the Clear Rate 5 ESS switch by SS7.
