Meet George Aldea Jr.

Behind every successful customer solution at Clear Rate is a team of people passionate about helping businesses succeed. This month, we’re spotlighting George Aldea, one of the technical leaders behind many of our customer projects. From solving complex business challenges to supporting our internal teams, George brings a thoughtful, customer-first approach to everything he does. Get to know more about his role, experience, and what drives him.

Q: Can you briefly describe your role at Clear Rate and the types of projects you support?
A: My primary role is participating in discovery meetings, designing solutions, and presenting how Clear Rate’s portfolio can solve customer challenges. Beyond that, I support product development, sales strategy, and training for internal teams. I also collaborate daily with departments across the company—including Marketing, the NOC, Service Delivery, and our executive team.

Q: What does a day in the life look like for a Sales Engineer at Clear Rate?
A: It’s more dynamic than at companies focused on a single product. Because Clear Rate offers multiple services, I need deeper specialization in high-demand areas while staying knowledgeable about the full portfolio. My day includes product training, ongoing learning—especially around AI—helping internal teams with technical questions, and joining prospect and customer calls.

Q: How did you get into sales engineering? What attracted you to the field?
A: I started as an account manager at SBC (now AT&T) and worked closely with Technical Sales Engineers. They were some of the best in the industry and really inspired me. I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning, and the evolving nature of technology keeps the work exciting. That constant learning is what drew me to sales engineering and keeps me motivated today.

Q: What skills are most important for success in your role?
A: Listening is number one. I’ve learned to let customers fully explain their needs before responding. Clear communication is equally important—especially because I often speak with both business leaders and technical stakeholders. Tailoring the conversation to each audience ensures everyone understands how the solution benefits their business.

Q: What recent customer win are you especially proud of?
A:
One that stands out is our work with Taylor Life. They were struggling to manage incoming calls to their main line and crisis hotline.  Too many calls were going to voicemail, and important messages were being missed due to inconsistent follow-up.

We addressed this by implementing a Multi-line Hunt Group (iACD) solution, creating a centralized queue so every incoming call is answered and routed to the appropriate person or department.

As a result, Taylor Life now has full visibility into their call activity with real-time dashboards showing call volume, answer rates, and missed calls. We also set up automated weekly reporting for supervisors and executives, giving them the insights needed to improve responsiveness and ensure no critical calls are overlooked.

Q: How do you simplify complex technical topics for customers?
A: By putting myself in their shoes and framing technology in the context of their business. Customers don’t want technical jargon—they want to understand how a solution improves operations. For example, with a long-time family-owned business we’re working with now, we focused conversations around how technology could consolidate old systems, streamline dispatch and SMS workflows, and reduce support risk—not how the technology works behind the scenes.

Q: What sets Clear Rate’s engineering support apart from competitors?
A: Our holistic approach. Competitors focused on a single product tend to only engineer that slice of the solution. Clear Rate evaluates the full environment—network, Wi-Fi, cybersecurity, infrastructure, IT and voice. That gives customers a complete, well-designed solution rather than a one-dimensional fix.

Q: What is the biggest advantage Clear Rate provides customers?
A: Local, personal support across customer service, project management, account management, and engineering. Customers work with a responsive U.S.-based team that understands the SMB market. And with a broad product suite, customers have one point of contact for fast implementation and problem resolution.

Q: What motivates you most in your work?
A: Helping businesses solve real problems and supporting Clear Rate’s internal teams so they can deliver the best solutions to customers.

Q: What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
A: I have five kids—and that always gets a reaction. The skills you develop raising a big family definitely translate into business.

Q: How do you see the role of a Sales Engineer evolving as technology changes?
A: The role is shifting from purely technical support to a more consultative business advisor. As AI-driven capabilities become embedded in communications technology, Sales Engineers must focus on understanding how a customer operates, the challenges they’re facing, and the processes they want to improve.

While some providers still lead with features, the real value now comes from guiding customers through how technology can help them better service their customers, strengthen employee effectiveness, and streamline workflows. Sales Engineers who can connect technical solutions to meaningful business outcomes will be the ones who help customers—and Clear Rate agents—win.
